The Core

Even if you’re not wearing a form-fitting dress, it’s important to incorporate core exercises into your wedding workouts. A strong core will not only make you feel better about your appearance, but it can also improve your posture, which means you will stand up straight and look leaner as you walk down the aisle. To work on your core before your big day, try a yoga routine designed to create strong abs. Another benefit of yoga? It can teach you how to relieve anxiety so you can make it through the stress of wedding planning without breaking a sweat!

Upper Body

Will you be showing off your shoulders and arms in your wedding dress? If so, this is one area you should target with your wedding workouts. With light weights and a resistance band, you can do various exercises to tone your triceps, biceps, shoulders, and chest. Many women worry that they will bulk up if they use weights, but that’s not the case when you’re using light weights. These exercises are designed to keep your muscles lean and long without adding bulk.

Lower Body

Ball gown dresses hide your lower body, but if you plan on wearing a form-fitting mermaid or trumpet style dress, you should definitely focus on lower body exercises prior to your wedding. Squats and lunges are two of the most popular lower body exercises—and it’s not hard to understand why. These moves will lift your bottom, tone your thighs, and tighten muscles in your lower body. If you get sick of doing squat after squat, change it up by trying one of the many non-traditional squats. For example, the Grand Plie squat combines the squat with a classic ballet move that will make you really feel the burn.

Legs

Many brides are opting for non-traditional short dresses that show off their legs. If you plan on showing your stems as you walk down the aisle, don’t forget to target this area of your body with your wedding workouts. There are countless exercises you can try to tone your calves, thighs, and hamstrings, including step-ups. Grab a step or bench and step on and off of it moving one foot at a time. Not only will this tone your muscles, but if you speed it up, it’s also a great cardio exercise that will burn a ton of calories.

Working out before your wedding isn’t just about getting in shape and losing weight. Exercising on a regular basis will build your confidence so you can look and feel like the beautiful bride of your future spouse’s dreams!
