A historic Lake District house offering several wedding day options. A prestigious family home, tucked away in one of Cumbria’s prettiest villages, with a choice of atmospheric settings for the ceremony or reception, are just part of the appeal at this stunning wedding location. Couples can choose the Medieval Hall, Old Chapel or Bank Barn for their ceremony, or opt for one of two lovely churches within half a mile of the venue. The cosy intimacy of the Old Chapel is ideal for up to 30 people, while Bank Barn can seat up to 156 day guests or 200 in the evening. It’s a light and airy space with exposed stone walls and oak beams. Or, if the weather is kind they could marry in the Garden Pavilion and enjoy drinks on the lawn. And then there’s the wedding breakfast. We offer in-house catering with much of the ingredients sourced from the kitchen garden or the Lowther family’s 800 year old estate.
Askham Hall also offers the perfect environment for smaller weddings. Whether it is a cosy winter wedding in the house or a summer wedding in the garden, they have plenty of options to suit your requirements… They imagine the perfect intimate wedding involving getting married in the old chapel or the garden pavilion followed by a wedding breakfast in one of the private dining rooms, followed by a party in the medieval hall.
