Ronan Jégaden started his wedding photography career in 2013 . He has consistently shot between 15 and 20 wedding each year and raising his profile in the wedding photography industry.

How did you get into wedding photography?
In 2009 I get seriously sick and had to undergo 7 surgical operations. I didn’t work for two years and my life changed at that time. I took up photography as a hobby during these years and I made the decision to become a photographer in 2012.
Before my injuries I worked as a commercial manager in a telecoms compagny for 15 years.
Do you have a recent favorite photo that you have taken? Tell us how you took it and why you like it?
I love this picture taken recently. The mother can’t wait for her son to leave the church and come to kiss him. I am always very touched by the parent’s affection. I often crying behind my camera …
What really gets you emotional when you’re shooting a wedding?
The family affection and the parent’s love in particular. That’s why I do this job ! I also live these emotions by proxy.
How do you put a couple at ease before and during their big day?
I don’t ask myself the question. I try to be natural and also share my own experiences. This way I find the exchange becomes relaxed and natural.
What is it about being a wedding photographer you love?
Henry Cartier Bresson said : “It is putting on the same line of sight the head, the eye and the heart”. That’s what I feel. When the sensitivity of my heart and the skills of my brain guide my eyes, I can create a beautiful image.
What is it about being a wedding photographer that you don’t love so much?
A photographer who’s not very sensitive about his subject
An ostentatious photographer ! We have to be invisible !
A photographer who doesn’t evolve anymore
If you could change one thing about the wedding industry what would it be?
I would like each professional to work at a reasonable break-even point. The profession of wedding photographer suffers in France because it is not valued at its true value.

80% of my pictures are made with the 35mm… Definitly my favourite !
What is your favourite part of the day?
Difficult to say. I love the emotional moments. It can happen anytime.

What tips would you give a couple on choosing a wedding photographer?
Simplify, delegate, get help from friends and family ! No phone during the day and try to enjoy as much as possible !
Why do you think couples choose you?
When the bride and groom contact me they are recommended, then they already know me a little. I think they are convinced by three things :
- by the people who recommend me
- by my emotional involvement
- by the result of the images that I present to them.
How do you relax when you’re not shooting weddings?
I am a fan of football and Paris SG. I am a ticket holder at the club and I try to see all the home matches. I take my 7 year old son from time to time and I love to spend those moments with him. To relax I practice running (3h30 to the Paris’s Marathon) and climbing. These things bringme love, football and mountains and I am a happy man!!!
What are you looking forward to and why?
To love and be loved ! It’s a perpetual quest ! It may sound religious or simplistic but in my opinion that’s why we live ! When emotional equilibrium flickers, all our daily life is trouble.
