Wedding Photographer Lucas Lermen
I like to work totally free and capture the wedding day in a documentary style, looking only tell the story. But some details are very important to this story, then you have to capture them in a creative and dynamic way so they last forever. This wedding photo was taken in harsh sunlight at 14:00 using the hard light to project the shadow onto a yellow table. I was looking around the wedding location for good spots. I had no idea I was going to take this picture until it pretty much happened, I found this spot and decided it would make for an interesting and creative image.
I took several pictures until, testing different positions in the hands of my assistant and girlfriend. It was shot from above and I closed in on the frame to just get the yellow colour of the table.
The photo was taken with a Nikon D610 and 50mm lens, very affordable equipment. Without any extra light apart from the sunlight. In post production I added a little contrast and adjusted the image corners that had left the table, as it was relatively a small space to work on. I knew I could do this, so it wasn’t too much of an issue when capturing the image.
The couple loved this shot and it was the opening image in their beautiful wedding album that I presented to them. I was surprised because the couple were a little conservative and sometimes conservative couples don’t go for these kind of images, they loved the results and were very surprised.
The wedding was in the city of Montenegro, south of Brazil, near Porto Alegre.
