My name is Pedro Damian. I'm a wedding photographer from McAllen Texas,addicted to the use of natural light. I've been interested in photography from a child, interested in learning and having control over it. I am addicted to natural colours. My main inspiration is always how the eyes sees colours and light.
With every couple/wedding, always at the last moment just before I say goodbye to my clients I take my best shot and it always ends up being my most amazing image. I think it's because it's all on me, not my clients. It happened to be this picture.
The sun was harsh and the light came from a hole in the roof acting as a spotlight. The shot was taken behind a restroom in the Old Quinta. I asked the bride to pose as the light was amazing and the shot was taken very quickly as the guests wanted to leave. I set the shot up in about 10 minutes and that was hard because I could feel the pressure.
I had to position the brides hand exactly in the spot of light coming from the roof. I found a piece of card in a trash can and used this to block the unattractive background and dim light.
Shot using a Nikon D700, 50mm 2.8 lens ad f2.8, ISO 1000 with a shutter speed of 200
There wasn't much post work in this shot. A B/W conversion, sharpening and a bit of dodging and burning.
I feel it's an honest shot, expressing my love for natural light and beauty which all weddings need to have. The image I presented to the couple was the original image I saw in my mind when I saw the spot of light so I was very pleased.
