I'm 33 years old from Hawaii. Photographing weddings for 5 years. Married with two children and enjoy surfing, jiujitsu great food and wine and a good laugh. Life is tremendous! Aloha!
This shot was completely unplanned for and random. I was photographing a couple and took them to one of my favorite surfing beaches on the northwest coast of Maui. We were walking through some trees and I noticed the rope and I said to them "Hey there's a rope you guys wanna be adventurous?" Of course they were up for it and I was getting a bunch of great shots of Erin(bride) on the swing laughing and I just thought I should slow my shutter and try to track her. I did and this was the result :)
I was scared she would fall off the rope and hit me with a lawsuit! Below the swing was a good 5-6 foot fall onto rocks! They made it safely and other than that it went pretty smooth.
The sun was coming from behind her and I wanted to avoid harsh/contrasty shadows which is why I shot the direction I did. I kept the composition simple with my subject in the center of the frame mainly because my center focus point is the most reliable when tracking a moving subject.
I shot this with a canon 5D MKII and a canon 50 mm f1.2 L lens. Settings were f/16 shutter 1/15 ISO 250. I Just turned it black and white and added some grain Simple :)
