Wedding Photographer Spain Denis Cherim Photography shoots a wedding at Arroyomolinos de la Vera (Spain), Spain
Real weddings from real wedding photographers & real couples around the world.
Tell us a little about yourself??My name is Denis Cherim and I was born in Romania. If I were asked for one word to describe my life it would be 'movement'. I have lived in four different countries in my 27 years. I feel very blessed for all the cultural treasure that I have experienced.
How do you think or would like people to describe you?I always thought we are all constantly changing. Thinking of one word or a quality to describe me means not letting people get to know me when meet them. I prefer to allow them to get to know me themselves.
Tell us a little bit about the wedding day?A wedding day is one or maybe the most important day for a couple and for me. It is a huge responsibility and honor to be chosen as their wedding photographer because I spend more time with them than anybody else.
During a wedding I think about me being a hunter of emotions. I want to shoot every single special moment so the bride and groom can relive it again when they see the photos.
How did you get into wedding photography?I was always interested in photography. I started with a small camera and later I got a bank loan to buy my first reflex camera.
Wedding photography found me when I was working like a printer in a photo lab. There I met some very good wedding photographers and my interest grew. They saw some of my pictures and gave me the opportunity to start as a second shooter.
How long have you been a wedding photographer?I have been a wedding photographer for 6 years now.
Can you share how you've made your wedding photography business a success? Any mistakes you made along the way?Just loving what I do, because when you enjoy your work it becomes a part of you and people can see it. I made some bad decisions I suppose, the same as anybody else. But mistakes are just another way to push you to do things better.
What do you think a bride or groom should be looking for and not looking for in terms of wedding photography packages?n/a
How do you advertise yourself and what for you has really worked?I don't advertise myself. Actually this is a way to let myself be found only by people who are really looking for their photography/wedding photographer. I trust very much in a power of word of mouth, because a happy client goes and talks with his/her friends and gives the best promo.
Why do you think people hire you?I think there are people who likes my wedding photography in the same way there are others whom don't like it at all. I suppose they hire me because they see something in my photos that attract their attention.
How many weddings do you average per year? When I started in this world I did 27 weddings per year. This was too much work and very little time to give my best. Because of that I now do much less weddings, about 11 per year, but these are much more personalized.
Whose wedding would you love to shoot?I really enjoy my work, so I would be happy to shoot every couple who puts their trust in me.
If you were asked to shoot a destination wedding, where would you hope it would be?Every single destination that takes me to discover new places and people. If I choose only one place I would be closing the door at all the other amazing places in the world.
What equipment do you have for a typical wedding day?I shoot with a Canon 5D2 and use many fixed lenses. My favorite and the one I use more is the EF 50mm 1.2L.
What is the most challenging thing about a wedding.
Do you have an approach to a wedding?I'm trying to be as creative as possible in my work. I ask the couple to tell me details that are going to happen during the wedding day. That helps me to be prepared and give a different point of view of each moment.
Who or what inspires you?The silence is what inspires me. Not only the outside silence but the inside too. More I stay at peace with myself and what surrounds me the more I get inspired.
Best & Worst marketing idea so far?Best marketing idea has been offering all my clients a personal and special treat. Get to know and understand their wishes and needs. Give them unique wedding photos. Worst idea has been magazine advertisements because of their cost.
If you weren't a photographer, what would you be?Well, doing photography is like feeding my emotions through senses, so I probably would be a chef. In that way I would be able to continue doing the same thing but with food instead of pictures.
Share your favourite image of the day and why? This is my favorite photo because it concentrates the cheerful spirit that this couple spread to everyone around them.
Do you have any goals for the future photography related or otherwise?Just keep enjoying this wonderful life we are living. Do what I love most, photography, giving my best in every single shoot.
What do you think is key to being a successful wedding photographer? The secret is LOVE. The same a couple must love each other to get married, you must love to be their wedding photographer.
Are there any other wedding photographers whose work inspires you, can be a well know photographer or somebody you've stumbled across? There are many others, and no one particular. I like to learn from all of them in order to take the pictures in my own way later.
Proudest moment so far. Photography related or otherwise?n/a
