Tell us a little about yourself??

We are a married couple from Bucharest, Romania. We’ve been close friends since we were 14, lovers since we were 18, photographers since we were 24 and parents since we were 28. Now we are 35, but still feel like 18 :-)

Tell us a little bit about the wedding day?

A wedding day in Romania means 14-20 hours of hard work, but also great fun and openly expressed emotions. There is a kind of charming chaos in our weddings that makes each of them unique. Brides are gorgeous, relatives and friends are deeply involved, parties are crazy, so this is a pretty good place for a passionate, hardworking wedding photographer.

How did you get into wedding photography?

It’s strange, but we had no plan to do that. We had finished our university studies and started careers in different fields, while photographing just for our own pleasure. But somehow people started to trust us as photographers, to invite or recommend us for different kind of events. The business almost started and developed by itself. One day we had to admit it was serious.

How long have you been a wedding photographer?

This is our 6th year of working together as wedding photographers.

Can you share how you've made your wedding photography business a success? Any mistakes you made along the way?

Work hard, keep studying, learn from others, never let your pride get in the way, be in a permanent and fierce competition with yourself, make no enemies, build trust, be patient and again, work hard.

Experience is crucial in this field. Experience means making mistakes and learning from them, of course. It hurts, but it helps. We’ve made lots of mistakes. The only one we really regret though is the fear of making mistakes, which kept us for a while in a comfortable but grey area.

What do you think a bride or groom should be looking for and not looking for in terms of wedding photography packages?

We think there is a perfect wedding photographer for every couple and they tend to deserve each other :-). Brides and grooms should think about what they really want not about existing trends, packages, other peoples weddings etc. In other words, define your dream and follow it.

How do you advertise yourself and what for you has really worked?

A good reputation is the best advertisement. It’s the most expensive in terms of personal efforts, but it totally works. Make sure that every client is happy, no matter how difficult he/she is. Make sure you are always nice and kind with other wedding photographers and also with wedding videographers, priests, wedding planners, florists, singers etc. Make sure you are a really good person, not just another back scratcher. It pays off.

Why do you think people hire you?

They may be tired of the “normal” wedding photos :-)

How many weddings do you average per year?

We do about 23-25 weddings per year. The vast majority of the population in Romania are Orthodox. Because of the fasting days, there is a limited number of weekends when weddings are allowed by the church. But we also do many baptisms and other kind of events.

Whose wedding would you love to shoot?

It’s great to shoot people deeply in love with each other, no matter who they are.

If you were asked to shoot a destination wedding, where would you hope it would be?

It’s not the landscape that matters for us, but the people. There are lovely people and there are the others. We prefer the lovely people

What equipment do you have for a typical wedding day?

Each of us has got his/her own equipment and we always work together. We’ve got two Canon Mark III, a Fuji X-T1, some lenses we love (24, 35, 50, 85, 70-200mm), four flashes, one video light, other basic stuff and some little things that we may use in a creative way.
