Real weddings from real wedding photographers & real couples around the world.
Tell us a little about yourself??I live with my wife and my two wonderful children in Arezzo, between Florence and Siena, in the heart of the magical Tuscany, land of passion, art and culture. My works reflect all of this.
How do you think or would like people to describe you?I am really glad when people acknowledge that there is PHOTOGRAPHY in my works. My vision and language give life to my photography.
Tell us a little bit about the wedding day?Ian and Willeke are a very special couple: brilliant, playful, funny and at the same time very careful and sensitive towards the others. It was easy to get a feeling with them and their family and friends.
How did you get into wedding photography? My way to Photography has started by chance and bet... Photography has courted me for years. In 2004 a journey to Portugal changed my mind and opened my eyes: I was called to do a photo journalistic service there and I found a new mode of expression: a tale through images. I immediately fell in love with that new world.
Then, it was a matter of occasions, of circumstances, of new people I met.
I once found myself having to 'tell' a wedding and I had no doubts, that was what I wanted to do.
So I became a wedding photographer.
How long have you been a wedding photographer? For many years now.
Can you share how you've made your wedding photography business a success? Any mistakes you made along the way?I have grown up professionally as I have never stopped researching, continuously looking for new experiences of life, of people, of the world around me.
We all make mistakes, they are part of our background and growing as well. Without mistakes we would not be who we are today..
What do you think a bride or groom should be looking for and not looking for in terms of wedding photography packages?Hiring a wedding photographer for the service of their wedding is one of the most important issues for a couple. He or she will be responsible to record and create their memories, emotions forever. So the first recommendation is to find a wedding photographer, to look for the right person who most corresponds to their way of being, who empathizes with them and will be able to return them the emotions of the most important day of their life.
How do you advertise yourself and what for you has really worked?Internet and social networks have great importance for this kind of business
Why do you think people hire you?Because they want Livio Lacurre at their wedding. My way of working is not reproducible, I have my vision of the event day and I have my interpretation. My couples know that I do not do 'wedding photographs'. I do photos at weddings, with my unique style and vision.
How many weddings do you average per year?30-40
Whose wedding would you love to shoot?I love telling real stories. No real story is more beautiful than others. Every real story is unique. I am eager to shoot anyones real story.
If you were asked to shoot a destination wedding, where would you hope it would be?Fortunately I usually travel for destination weddings abroad...I love shooting destination weddings of people in foreign countries, whose culture is very different from mine.
What equipment do you have for a typical wedding day?Usually I have at least two cameras and three fixed optics (50- 85 - 35) and a zoom lens (14-24). This allows me to be light and to move fast.
What is the most challenging thing about a wedding.
In the candid photography you shoot around what happens at the same time it happens (the most candid moments). In the reportage the preparation is at the base of the tale. The most important thing is the knowledge you have of the event, of timing, of planning, of key people, of their characterizable aspects.
It Is the study of ceremony, of the different cultures. My shootings are the natural consequence of all this.
Do you have an approach to a wedding? My approach to any wedding is the same that I have for every reportage, for every story to tell.
Who or what inspires you?All is inspiration for me: life, people, their stories. I do not follow other colleagues work strictly, I prefer to look for my way of expression, without direct influence of trends. What interests me of other colleagues is knowing their way, the walk that leads them to express with their images. I care about their thoughts, their character. Because you photograph what you are. For this I love to deepen the knowledge of big photographers, also in other fields.
I think about Bresson, Capa, Penn, Doisneau, Erwitt, Limberg, Newmann, Scianna, Fontana...
Best & Worst marketing idea so far?You cannot say what is better or worse for your business... It depends on the marketing strategy that you want to apply for your business purposes, according to your targets and the area where you operate.
If you weren't a photographer, what would you be?Journalist
Share your favourite image of the day and why?I love this picture because it is natural and spontaneous. The couple walking together with all kids keeping their hands reminds me the warmth and the fervency between bride and groom, among their parents and loved ones. It was really a special day.
Do you have any goals for the future photography related or otherwise? You never stop learning. I will not stop telling too.
What do you think is key to being a successful wedding photographer?Being a photographer, not a simple shooter. Knowing people.
Are there any other wedding photographers whose work inspires you, can be a well know photographer or somebody you've stumbled across?I do not look at other wedding photographers for inspiration. However, when I meet with some of them, I really like to get to know them and their work.
Proudest moment so far. Photography related or otherwise? When people see my photography services and get excited and emotional about my work.
