WPS Top 10 UK Wedding Photographers

In the first article in our Top 10 Series we celebrate Wedding Photography Select’s Top 10 Wedding Photographers in the UK. Congratulations to all who are listed, they have certainly proved they are at the top of their game. Enjoy this selection of the beautiful WPS Excellence Award winning images from our UK Top 10…


1. Steven Rooney, Liverpool

Excellence Awards: 32

Congratulations to Steven Rooney for grabbing the No 1 place in our list. Steven has loved photography his whole life but only started shooting professionally around ten years ago. Formerly a primary school teacher, now Steven’s massive success in the photography industry has led to him delivering training and mentoring to other photographers on top of his busy schedule as one of the UK’s most in demand wedding photographers. A fine photojournalist and a lovely guy too!


2. David West, Tyne and Wear

Excellence Awards: 12

With his beautiful, dreamy style, David is our UK No 2. David started his career as a graphic artist before becoming an art director, and later found his true calling in life in – photography. In his own words: “Over the years, I have developed a signature style, that is unique to me and the couples that I work for. My style is far from traditional, and so perhaps not for the mild and meek. My photography appeals to the non-traditionalist, the contemporary and the stylish.”


3. Pixies In The Cellar, Manchester

Excellence Awards: 11

Pixies in the Cellar (aka Peter & Sara) are based in Greater Manchester but travel internationally. ‘The Pixies’ manage to perfectly combine photojournalistic wedding photography with fine art shots and this has won them a whole host of industry awards.


4. Aurora Lechuga, Warwickshire

Excellence Awards: 11

Aurora combines bridal photography, fashion photography, reportage and documentary photojournalism within her stunning work. In her own words Aurora captures “images full of magic and freshness that convey all the special and unique emotions of the wedding day.”


5. Luna Weddings (Anna & Mike), Devon

Excellence Awards: 9

Anna from Luna Photography is fresh from winning a place in our WPS Top International Female Wedding Photographers List, we are delighted to see her again in our No 5 spot. Luna is one of the longest standing wedding photography businesses in the South West of England, with over 500 weddings under their belt. We absolutely love their striking images.



6. Aaron Storry, Northamptonshire

Excellence Awards: 8

A former graphic designer, Aaron’s beautiful images have garnered him multiple international awards. We are delighted for him to fill our No 6 spot. In his own words: “I love taking pictures of people and amazing moments. I happen to think that photography is really important and I get excited at the chance to share in your special day and to document the love and joy.”



7. Kris Pendlebury (KJP Images), Merseyside

Excellence Awards: 8

As KJP say themselves, they are “passionate about photography, our style is fresh, creative, and relaxed”. Recipients of a fantastic 8 WPS Excellence Awards we love the unique style that placed them as our No 7.


8. Sansom Photography (Chris & Verity), Yorkshire

Excellence Awards: 6

Chris and Verity work incredibly hard to hone their talents and to carve out their own unique style in the wedding photography industry. They create truly stunning images full to the brim with emotion and are proud recipients of many industry awards.


9. Alan Law, Cornwall

Excellence Awards: 6

A master of the unobtrusive shot, Alan’s images have won him numerous accolades internationally. He has been named as one of Rangefinder Magazine’s ’30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography’ in the world.


10. York Place Studios, North Yorkshire

Excellence Awards: 6

Brother and sister team, Liam & Dom, work together effortlessly to produce gorgeous wedding images. “We try to harness all of that emotional energy and put it straight back into the photographs – it is our emotions that help us take great pictures, and if you can’t feel then you can’t see.”


Naomi Hyman

Naomi has been the Editor of The Select Bride since 2015. She was formerly the Content Editor of Wedding Photography Select for the previous 5 years. She lives in Brighton with her partner and four energetic children. Her interests include cooking, midcentury design, minimalism, reading and enjoying quality time with her family.
